Open Call for Artists
Minerva Road Energy Centre
Loom Projects, on behalf of OPEN, invites expressions of interest from artists, designers and makers to contribute to a series of permanent artworks or creative interventions for the Minerva Road Energy Centre in Park Royal.
This open call seeks to identify artists to work closely with the project team, including award-winning architectural practice Haworth Tompkins, to develop creative responses that are embedded into the fabric and identity of the building.
The OPEN project is a partnership between Hemiko and the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC), aiming to provide clean, local heat to homes and businesses. By using waste heat from nearby data centres, OPEN will help improve air quality, reduce energy bills and support green jobs and apprenticeships across the area.
Minerva Road Energy Centre is a key piece of infrastructure for the OPEN project. Alongside its functional role - transforming waste heat into usable energy - the building is envisioned as a public-facing, civic structure that reflects the area’s rich industrial heritage, creative economy and local community. Artist commissions will play a central role in shaping this identity through thoughtful, context-led interventions.
